Ristna Nature Centre

Ristna Nature centre is located in the very end of the peninsula in Kalana village by the Kõpu-Ristna road. Nature Centre is actually an old forester's house which has recently been renovated. Centre is surrounded by forests, sea and Kalana port are also not very far.

 

In Nature Centre you can:

  • get information on Hiiumaa and other State Forest Management Centre's Recreation areas.
  • order nature programmes and go on guided tours, visit permanent exposisition on Natura 2000 habitats and exhibitions
  • go discover the study field and study track behind the house on your own

Programmes on different themes:

  • The year of a forester - introduces all year round activities starting from planting the trees to logging
  • Forest and the sea - introduces the characteristics of coastal forests and habitats, the relations between man and nature
  • Time's trace in forest - introduces the hereditary culture which you can find in forest
  • Swamps and mires of Hiiumaa - introduces different stages of swamps which can be found in Hiiumaa starting from small swamps to high mires
  • It is also possible to order programmes on other themes of interest.

Facilities:

  • Information point in summer season
  • Study class for 20 people
  • Sauna with accomodation for 20 people participating in the ordered programmes
  • Camping for people participating in programmes
